Bitten by Bittman

At times I become painfully aware that I am mostly out of the loop when it comes to popular culture. Take for instance Mark Bittman. His name came up a time or two in a couple of food blogs I visit and the next thing I know "How to Cook Everything" is being sold at Costco. Not a place to find rare books don't ya know?

So I think this guy is not so obscure after all and pick up a copy. I've been very happy with the recipes we've tried thus far. Mike's favourite is the fried fish with beer and bacon - no surprise there. Last night I made the spinach version of Green Vegetable Soup (broccoli and asparagus are the other options) and it did not disappoint. It stands up well next to Lynne's Curried Broccoli soup which has become a family favourite. Thank you Lynne.

Thanks for the praise! But you must try my beer, yellow pea, and leek soup (somehow that sounds a bit nasty--but it's very tasty).

Peas send the recipe along ~ I think I'll leek it a lot.
